In the Women Empowerment series we present a young author: GUDRUN WIESER
With “Jenseits der Mur” (emons, 25 August 2022), the debut author offers historical thriller suspense in Styria in 1882:
Gruesome deaths plunge a girls’ boarding school near Gratwein into turmoil. The victims, young Fräulein, are found with pink ribbons on their clothes. The young teacher Ida Fichte, however, notices more and together with the gendarme Wilhelm Koweindl she decides to get to the bottom of the matter.
Gudrun Wieser, born in Frohnleiten in 1987, took her Matura at the Ursulinen in Graz (at that time still an all-girls school), followed by teacher training in German and Latin at the Karl Franzens University in Graz. Out of passion for the ancient languages, she added a doctorate in Classical Philology (Latin) in Graz and Vienna in 2017. As a teacher, after a stint as a lecturer at the university and several language courses at the Urania, she moved to the historically rich Akademisches Gymnasium Graz, where she now teaches Latin, German, Intercultural Social Learning and Performing Arts. She also performs as a storyteller alone and as the duo Wieser & Wiesler with the actress and author Marion Wiesler.
