Hannah Ryggen (1894-1970) was one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century. The motifs in Hannah Ryggen’s works are an expression of her strong political commitment – visualisations of her reactions to political events from the 1930s until her death in 1970. In terms of form, her works represent a renewal of textile art. Ryggen’s art is still relevant today.
