Together with the Carinthian artist Susanne Kubelka, they created a song evening under “Bachmann Reloaded” with set-of their favourite poems by Ingeborg Bachmann.
His latest formation offers different sizes: SOLO, as DUO with different partners or as ENSEMBLE. The music oscillates between jazz, minimal music, post-rock and danceable electronics.
The two musicians THOMAS NEČEMER and DIRK SCHILLING embark on a wonderfully atmospheric sound journey through the most diverse musical regions on their joint EP “Madame A.”
Where partisans and Carinthian mountain farmers’ blood mix with North German sailor origins, something primal and powerful is created, something deeply rooted in nature, but also something that daringly and boldly goes out into the world. Thomas Nečemer and Dirk Schilling form this unusual duo of jazz accordion and the modern sound world of an electric guitarist. The music: Ambient, minimal, meditative. Often difficult to identify which of the two is producing which sounds, they weave clusters, sounds and loops into melodic themes and thus unite sea, sky, forest and mountain worlds from the end of the world. Both masters of their craft and yet reserved in their playing style, they walk wonderfully fresh paths between instant composing and improvisation, making themselves an unmistakable part of an independent European jazz tradition.
Thomas Nečemer, deeply rooted in the rich Carinthian-Slovenian musical tradition, was already a two-time European champion with the Styrian harmonica at a young age before he began his jazz studies at the Vienna Conservatory and graduated with honors. Afterwards he was part of the Viennese and Carinthian jazz scene and worked in a wide range from compositions for “A Gschicht über d’LIEB” (including the Bavarian Film Prize and the Thomas Strittmayer Prize at the Berlinale) to the world music ensemble La Claneta.
