More than 200 different historical and modern roses grow in the kunstGarten, with melodious names and different fragrances. Depending on the weather, they open their flowers earlier or later in May.
Since the voyages of discovery in the 12th, 13th and later in the 19th century, when male and female breeders set to work, there has been a lively exchange and consequent crossing of roses. In the meantime, there are more than 30,000 known rose varieties. When Schloss Eggenberg made preparations to reconstruct its historic rose hill, the team at kunstGarten was asked to lend our expertise and advice.
We will be offering informative rose tours this year until June.
