kunstGarten has participated in the Long Night of Museums since 2005.

ORF LNDM

kunstGarten links contemporary art and science with the natural and cultural space of the garden.

Outdoors, the PERMANENT ARCHIVE HORTOPIA: Art.Garden.Library offers numerous works of contemporary art in the midst of FLORA PERFORMING, extensive dynamic plant scenery. Indoors is a reference and lending library with a gardening strong-point, which boasts more than 4500 titles from 5 centuries and an expansive collection of art films. In front of the entrance, the PAYER-WEYPRECHT ISLANDS and the STREET GALLERY are located in the public space along the fence of kunstGarten & opposite the A1-Telekom building to give everyone access to current art around the clock.

15:30 The current exhibition curated by Irmi Horn can be seen beginning at 15:30.

18:00 Overview tour with Reinfrid Horn: Contemporary Art … & Flora Performing.

The history, objectives, programme and the ARCHIVE HORTOPIA: Art.Garden.Library of kunstGarten will be presented during the tour that takes place both outdoors in the garden and indoors in the library. Indoors: Media sculpture garden library – over 4500 titles from 5 centuries, reference and lending library & video library (approx. 5500 titles of film art) // Canteen open. The guided tour provides an overview of the art, garden and library, and garden questions are answered. In autumn, autumn asters, dahlias, monkshood, zinnias and garden chrysanthemums provide special colour accents. Indoors, the rich media sculpture Garden Library is available to anyone interested.

The “Archiv Hortopia: Art.Garden.Library” collection, the exhibitions, and a diverse programme create a meeting place for communication and knowledge transfer.

Since 2019, kunstGarten has been showing works of contemporary art for all passers-by via a street gallery in order to bring art closer to people who are far removed from culture in the spirit of human rights.

The evening show garden of the “Archiv Hortopia” with installations of contemporary art amidst the autumn flora invites visitors to enjoy a sensual experience with plant scents and touch after dark. The evening lighting creates a fairytale atmosphere.
