Lena Violetta Leitner, A
Lena Violetta Leitner was born in Graz. In 2017, she graduated in Digital Art from the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she founded the Integration Centre for Migrating Plants (IZMP).

Since then, plants and their sociopolitical dimensions have been central to her artistic practice. She explores the interconnections between science—particularly biology—language and society, approaching these subjects through irony, humour and speculative fabulation.

Leitner invents, intervenes and collaborates. Her works are usually developed through extensive research and close exchange with artists, designers and scientists. The resulting projects range from participatory installations to performances involving plants, electronics and text.

In 2022, her collective DTAFA received an award as part of Ö1 – Reparatur der Zukunft. In the same year, Leitner was awarded the Start Grant for Media Art by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport (BMKÖS).

Selected exhibitions include the Venice Biennale Sessions, State of Concept Athens, das weisse haus, Neue Galerie Graz, Ars Electronica Linz, Museum Ulm, Galerie U10 and VBKÖ.

Exhibition on view until 27 June 2027.
