Lesson in music – WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: PINTADORAS

Pintadoras

Las PINTADORAS – Beate Schriebl (flute), Eva Jiménez (bandoneon, piano, compositions), Brigitte Pelzmann (percussion) – create colourful, melancholic, swinging, tart, cheerful, rousingly rhythmic soundscapes:
boldly and freely painted in the air, glazed, opaque, pastose, framed by imaginative creations, the audience hears rhythms such as bolero, tango nuevo, bossa mixed with colours from folk, pop and jazz.

PINTADORAS

– the painters – create musical pictures with Eva Jiménez’s own compositions, supplemented by improvisation and joint arrangements. The varied music contains stylistic elements of Latin American music, tango and jazz, lively and rhythmic, romantic and thoughtful, passionate and cheeky.
The three musicians have been playing together for several years, Eva Jiménez on bandoneon or piano, Beate Schriebl on flute, Brigitte Pelzmann on percussion.

Eva Jiménez has been composing for over 20 years and plays in various formations. In her 2nd band she plays tenor sax together with a pianist and a drummer – jazz standards, original compositions and free improvisation (“House”).
Occasionally she also performs with a classical violinist and pianist. Here Eva’s

Eva’s compositions increasingly emphasise the special sound of the bandoneon.
Numerous training and further education programmes: at the conservatory and the University of Music in Graz, at jazz seminars, ongoing bandoneon lessons with Leandro Schnaider (Duo Ranas) from Buenos Aires.

Beate Schriebl on the flute also has a passion for improvisation and the opportunity it offers to express different moods, to “paint pictures”.
She has supplemented her original classical training in Klagenfurt with Eva Hochleitner and M. Brummer with various seminars and additional training courses.

Brigitte Pelzmann on percussion uses a variety of instruments to provide rhythmic accompaniment and sound effects. She is particularly at home in Brazilian and Latin music – a big thank you to Edison Tadeu Da Silva and Ismael Barrios.
