Sax meets bandoneon & newspaper literature

Madeleine Dietrichstein & Eva Jiménez (c) Paul Jiménez

In the realm of sounds and timbres, Eva Jiménez compositions and improvisations tell stories of joy, sorrow, hope and passion: mysterious, inspiring, melancholic or lively. Madeleine Dietrichstein (saxophone) & Eva Jiménez (bandoneon, piano) interpret them and invite you to let your imagination run wild.

Madeleine Dietrichstein, born in 1994 in Klagenfurt, has her centre of life in Graz. Her musical career begins in classical music, leads through jazz into world music and into all those sounds that a saxophone has to offer regardless of every style. Her training in popular music, painting and sculpture makes her an artist who feels as at home in the visual arts as in music.

Eva Jiménez has been composing for over 20 years and has been involved in various formations. In their 2. Band she plays tenor sax together with a pianist and a drummer – jazz standards, own compositions and free improvisations (“house).

Occasionally she also performs with a violinist and pianist native to classical music. Here, in Eva’s compositions, the special sound of the bandoneon is increasingly emphasised.

Numerous training and further education: at the Conservatory and the University of Music Graz, at jazz seminars, ongoing bandoneon – lessons with Leandro Schnaider (Duo Ranas) from Buenos Aires.
