Mirella Kuchling, author of the successful women’s room trilogy (edition keiper, 2011-2013), has been murdering since her participation in the 1. Fine Crime Festival in Graz passionately. Of course, only on paper. With “13 x Murder”, she presented her first collection of stories about murder and manslaughter in 2018. In the volume “Murderous Women’s Rooms”, published in 2023, the author revives 13 historical criminal cases and shows that the weaker sex can murder at least as cruelly as the strong one. And now she presents her latest book:
“The Angel Maker of Graz”.
Mirella Kuchling was born in Graz, where she studied German philology and history. As a journalist and later also as an online editor, she worked on various “Capital of Culture 2003” projects. In 1996, she received the DDr. Prize Scholarship from the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz.
Her dissertation on the topic “Writers in Graz street names. An illustrated documentation” formed the basis for the book “Literary Walks through Graz”, which was published in 2004 by the Steirische Verlagsgesellschaft and is unfortunately out of print.
In March 2004 first literary publication in the magazine DUM (= Das ultimative Magazin; Zeitschrift des Literaturhaus Niederösterreich).
At the beginning of 2005 first photo-artistic publication in “sterz”.
2006 Participation in the 23. Artist meeting in the Abbey of St. Lambrecht (Weg-Strecken : Standpunkte. Types of movement).
When her first novel “Frauenzimmer unmöbliert” was published in edition keiper in October 2011, the book became a bestseller.
2012 followed with “Frauenzimmer teilmöbliert” the 2nd Part, in the same year Mirella Kuchling also read at the Vienna Book Fair.
2013 follows with “Frauenzimmer vollmöbliert” the conclusion of the (initially not planned) trilogy. 2015 Participation in the 1. Fine Crime Festival in Graz, participation in a total of 3 anthologies, including the “Literary Locations”.
2016 Participation in the 2. Fine Crime Festival in Graz with “13 x Mord”, a collection of 13 crime stories about murder & manslaughter.
2017 Collaboration at the Criminale in Graz, reading with Beate Maxian, reading on the Literaturschiff Stubenberg and in the Klagenfurt bookstore Heyn.
2018 Collaboration on “Zweite Halbzeit”, Residenz Verlag, an anthology that reproduces the stories of women in the Graz women’s shelter.
2023 “Murderous Women’s Rooms”, edition Keiper
