Album Presentation BASSDIARY II – BASS PURE AND SIMPLE

Reinhard Ziegerhofer

Reinhard Ziegerhofer introduces his new solo album.

The music also caught me, like so many others, in childhood and so I tormented myself with recorder and accordion through the then rough everyday life in Liezen.

At the age of eleven, the music was over for the time being and football determined my life. If it hadn’t been for the long hair and the bubding rock bands, it wouldn’t have started with the electric guitar and soon also with the electric bass. At seventeen came the jazz.

After graduating from high school to Graz to study technical chemistry and classical double bass. And so came one after the other: Rocktheater, Graz Symphony Orchestra – and, what became clear: music, music, music. After a holiday in Greece, I put the jazz virus a little in its place, rock and pop were fully allowed again, but especially folk, my own folk music and genre-crossing ethnic music became my main interest. Through experience in classical orchestra, jazz, pop, folk and last but not least in the ethnojazz genre – through the groups “Broadlahn” and “polka potente” I became a style chameleon.

My bass playing should always be melody and vocals.

Composing, whether for choir, string orchestra, jazz bands or chamber music ensembles, takes an increasingly important place in my artistic activities.

My instruments: double bass, four-string electric bass, four-stringed ballless electric bass, six-string electric bass, acoustic guitar and voice
