Lime Trees: Thoughts and Stories

Lindenbaum, Holzschnitt, Leonard Fuchs 1542

The students of the Ortweinschule 3. Class for sculpture and ceramic design: 3YHKUB/K are 22 students, about 17 years old. They come on a Friday at about 14.15- 17.00. With Mrs. Mag.a Agnes Katschner) you will get to know different printing processes: learn lithography (as a flat printing process – rejection of water and fat. For this purpose, the surface of the stone is prepared into water-repellent and water-attracting areas. The printing areas are grease- and thus ink-friendly. The non-printing areas repel the fat-rich printing ink by the humidification with water) and etching (a printing technique in the gravure printing process from the 16th century). Century. In this case, a pencil drawing is first transferred to a painted printing plate; then the drawn lines are incarved into the lacquer layer. An acid bath ensures that the notched lines are etched into the plate) and screen printing (a continuous printing process in which the printing ink is printed with a rubber skegee through a fine-mesh fabric onto the material to be printed. In those places of the fabric where no color is to be printed according to the printed image, the mesh openings of the fabric are made color-impermeable by a template) as a means of pictorial design during the exhibition. Afterwards they will experience a workshop as an informative introduction – lecture DI.in Waltraud Körndl (landscape architect) and research and film on the subject of linden tree – with DP.in Irmi Horn and finished sketches.

They then design their work at the Ortweinschule, where they learn the technique and perform the printing.

The completed work of the 22 students of the 3YHKUB/K class is expected to be completed on the 6th of June 2025 at 16:30 in the kunstGarten. Funded by OEAD.
